To all the supporters of this site and of the music.
 
I'm sorry to announce that Backroads is taking a break, and it will probably be permanent. You will already have noticed that the amount of material being posted has reduced dramatically in the past few months.
 
Due to a happy change in my family circumstances, I no longer have the time that I would like to devote to the site. Although I have a number of enthusiastic contributors, the bulk of the work falls on me and I have been aware for some time that I'm not doing the job properly.
 
The site will remain up and all the existing material will be accessible, but since the gig guide won't be updated any more, it will slowly become more and more limited (though there are some gigs in it up to late 2013!)
 
My enthusiasm for the music is undiminished, and I shall certainly miss Backroads, which has been a lot of fun to run. If someone steps forward to keep the gig guide up to date, I might reconsider, but I know it's a big ask. If I find, in the next few months, that I have more time than I thought, I might revive the site in some form, but I'm making no promises.
 
Thanks for your messages of support over the past couple of years, and I hope to see lots of you at festivals and gigs in the future. You can still contact me on this email address.
